Pasqual Di Ceglia

 

I am Brazilian/Italian, was born in Brazil in 1970 and lived there up to my early thirties, when I moved to Europe. Since then I have lived in Italy, Spain and eventually settled in London, England. So my work does bring influences from different cultures and parts of the world.

I am open to any kind of medium/material I am able to use that develops ideas for my work. This openness is what fascinates me the most, for instance learning how to use an ordinary machine, like a photographic camera or a sewing machine, and then bringing somehow the results of it into my production.

Much of what I think and produce is related to the awareness, or not, of being attached to people, things, ideas, ideologies, society, routines, etc., the state of being framed by a system that dictates what we can and cannot do with our lives, the feelings it may bring, and how painful or joyful it can be once we decide, or have to, go through the sometimes inevitable detachment process.

I present my work in different types of medium, which includes video, music, photography, written word, drawing and general craft with wood, fabric, leather and any other material I consider to be useful to give the message I want.
