Esmée Leung

Mixed race female born in the North, aka Manchester, aged 25, who developed an interest in art young from her Hong Kong born father who was a talented artist himself though as a hobby and not as his career path. He would take me to galleries as a child, and provide me with utensils and  encourage art to me and my siblings. As a child I remember having an interest In drawing animals, which then developed to human anatomy. During college I have strong memory of being obsessed with drawing shoes. Strangely, I was always disinterest in drawing portraiture myself, and purposefully avoided it throughout my whole childhood, however I suddenly became interested during university in both political art of and portraiture. My work tends to be faces theses days, some famous ones and some not. The majority of my word is Mixed media, with tendency to use pens, paint and free hand embroidery. I displayed simple images in paper for our most recent exhibition, however my usually go to is to combine my images onto lights, to create a usable piece of art.
